Seems like I have acquired more clothing than footwear to kick off 2017, let's be honest I don't really need anymore sneakers... Although I am pretty sure that is blasphemy, in fact I think I heard someone scream somewhere, probably have to spin round three times and spit or something like that.
Anyway I have been a long time fan of Nike Sportswear (NSW) all the way back to my Nike Blitz Parka Gore Tex jacket from back in 2011, which still stands up today in terms of style and function. Lately you have probably seen me sporting a variety of versions of the Nike Tech Hero Hoodie, which is a phenomenal piece of functional clothing. I have to take my hat off to Nike they definitely deliver with this cross functional street/sport style clothing.
The latest piece in their arsenal, the Nike Sportswear Tech Knit 2.0 is a superb piece of design, combining clean simple aesthetic and fit and also bringing Nike's extensive levels of tech to the party. Another catch all piece that I would be happy to hit the gym in and equally provides the high level of style, fit and function I demand from my streetwear.
On feet I had to break out one of my favourite pairs from 2016 the Supreme New York X Nike Blazer Low GT 'Cannon' sneakers. I am a nut for anything Slate/Teal/Powder Blue in colour so these are right up there for me. Lately I can't seem to stop wearing these Denham Razor VIS raw selvedge jeans, another high quality piece of denim construction from the guys at Denham the Jeanmaker. I just love the fit on these and for me cuffed raw denim like this always look spot on with some low top skate shoes.
Needless to say I am never without one of my Visvim packs and this 20L Ballstic mustard pack is fast becoming one of my favourites. Another incredible piece of design and function, but I expect nothing less from Hiroki Nakamura and Visvim, of course coming out of Japan so hardly surprising.

Most people who know me, know I am a die hard retro runner fan, give me suede mesh any day of the week. It does seem to be a dying breed though so I was wondering what I would be buying in 2017. I am the first to admit I am stuck in my ways and find it hard to adapt to new silhouettes and the futurist design of sneakers. I have dismissed the hype surrounding a lot of these styles as I find hype can turn me off. Secretly as well I was never really sure if I could pull off the style of these minimalist sneakers.
Anyway with my inspiration waning so far in 2017 I figured no time like the present to give the Adidas Originals NMD a spin with the JD Sports exclusive NMD R1 and NMD XR1. Well first up I have to just eat a big piece of humble pie as these are one of the cleanest, lightest most comfortable shoes I have slipped on in a long time. The NMD R1 shape is first class and on feet I think they look sleek and sharp. The mesh on the toe box and heel on this model has a nice retro vibe and the hits of royal blue always go well with black, a classic colour combo on any sneaker. To be honest there is simply nothing bad I have to say about them. They most certainly will not be my last pair of NMDs. Definitely worth checking out the JD Sports Mens Trainers they have some really nice gear across the board.
I paired these with some really nice pieces from Denham The Jeanmaker. Another new label for me in 2017, and a very impressive one at that. These Razor VIS raw selvedge jeans are stunning raw denim manufactured in Italy with a really nice taper perfect for that pin roll I love. The Signature Crew Indigo tee is really top notch as well, lightweight and a great fit, plus that colour from the indigo dying is on point. Again another label that will be featuring on heavy rotation going forward.
So after my slow start to 2017, it looks like I have found two new labels to indulge in. Obviously I am a little late to the NMD party and having some serious regrets over that, but as we all know when you buy sneakers you simply can't have them all. As for Denham I am pumped to see what they will be producing this year, if the quality from these pieces is anything to go by it will be impressive.
